ALL – NEW Ford Fiesta Technology

The All – New Ford Fiesta brings you a whole new range of advanced features and systems so smart you’ll wonder how you drove without them. For example; Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Aid, Active Park Assist and Taffic Sign Recognition. Technology should always have a purpose.

Cruise control that can adapt automatically

With Adaptive Cruise Control technology, you choose the speed you want to drive at and the system will maintain it. If the built-in RADAR sensor detects a vehicle ahead, it will slow your vehicle to maintain a pre-set distance. Once the road in front is clear, the system will accelerate to your chosen speed.

Stress-free parking and pulling out

Parking can be a real hassle. But not in your new Fiesta. That’s because Active Park Assist uses a combination of different technologies to do more than steer you into parking spots. With Park Out Assist it helps you pull out of them, too. The Parallel and Perpendicular Parking system can sense if there’s space for your car to fit, then reverse you in. And Side Parking Aid also warns you if there are any lateral obstructions.

Technology that sees what you can’t

A Blind Spot Information System uses RADAR sensors to scan the blind spots on either side of your Fiesta. And if they detect a vehicle you can’t see, an orange light that’s clearly displayed in the corresponding side door mirror illuminates to warn you. If you’re reversing out of a space, and have limited visibility of the traffic situation, Cross Traffic Alert can detect oncoming vehicles and sound a warning. The technology also illuminates a light in the wing mirror: left or right depending on the direction of oncoming traffic.

An advanced system to help you stay in your lane

A Lane Keeping System uses a forward-looking camera to detect if you’re unintentionally drifting out of lane. Lane Keeping Alert then warns you by vibrating the steering wheel and displaying a visual warning. If you’re slow to react or don’t respond, Lane Keeping Aid can provide steering torque assistance to help guide you safely back into the right lane. The technology is designed for multi-lane roads (like motorways), so will automatically deactivate at speeds below 43mph (65 km/h) or can be turned off manually.

Seamless technology you can control with your voice

Ford SYNC 3 is a state-of-the-art system that enables you to stay connected and control your phone, music and navigation system with intuitive voice commands, or an 8” colour touchscreen. It connects to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto too, and with Applink, you can access some of your favourite smartphone apps, including Spotify. Live Traffic can also help you avoid the jams. And you can even call up a list of local restaurants just by saying “I’m hungry”, or access the Michelin Guide to help you choose and book places to eat.

Your favourite music, as it’s meant to be heard

Whatever your taste in music, it deserves to sound as the artist intended. And that’s exactly what you can expect in your new Fiesta. Why? Because it’s available with B&O PLAY. This premium level 675-watt audio system delivers a rich, powerful sound via a 10-speaker, woofer and subwoofer inclusive set-up. And this advanced technology has been specifically designed, developed and fine-tuned for the Fiesta by B&O PLAY’s specialist acousticians. So turn it up and enjoy your favourite bands and songs in the concert hall that is your car’s cabin.

New car Road Tax changes

1st April 2017 will see an increase for Vehicle Exercise Duty (VED) – road tax on most new vehicles.

If you own or buy a new car registered before 1st April 2017, these changes will not affect you. If you are looking for a brand new car, buying before the end of March 2017 will save paying extra tax (see table below).

The current taxation system is based on CO2 emissions, with the increasing popularity of more fuel efficient petrol and diesel cars the taxman was increasingly loosing out, if the system that ends 1st April 2017 continued, 75% of new cars would have nil road tax by 2017.

Only vehicles with 0g/km CO2 will qualify for nil road tax, and the rest will be divided in to 13 bands based on CO2 emissions..

For example, from 1st April  – for a car that has been nil road tax and then £20 in its second year, this same car will cost £140 to tax in the first year as well as every year after. At the end of the three years you will have spent £380 more on than that car than if you bought it before 1st April 2017.

As well as taxation being based on CO2 emissions it will also depend on the list price. A vehicle that costs over £40,000 even if it has 0 CO2 emissions will be liable to an additional £310 tax per year for five years from the end of the first vehicle licence. The subsequent years the tax will go back to the standard rate.

As you can see from the table below, after March the first year of tax is based on a sliding scale, from no road tax for electric and hybrid vehicles up to £2,000 for cars with CO2 emissions over 255g/km. From the second year, every car except zero emissions vehicles moves to the same tax rate of £140.

CO2 Emissions (g/km) 1st Year Rate Standard Rate*
0 £0 £0
1-50 £10 £140
51-75 £25 £140
76-90 £100 £140
91-100 £120 £140
101-110 £140 £140
111-130 £160 £140
131-150 £200 £140
151-170 £500 £140
171-190 £800 £140
191-225 £1,200 £140
226-255 £1,700 £140
Above 255 £2,000 £140

*New cars with a list price above £40,000 pay an additional rate of £310 per year for five years on top of the standard rate.
