Ford UK is making an announcement today to benefit any customers of vehicles with the 1.0L EcoBoost that have been the subject of engine overheating.

Despite actions taken by Ford in 2015 on affected vehicles built between Oct 2011 to Oct 2013 to mitigate engine overheating, there have been ongoing concerns from some owners, where repairs and/or engine replacements have been undertaken. To put this into context, this has been 0.35% of the number of vehicles sold in the UK with the EcoBoost engine.

Ford UK has made substantial contributions to the cost of repairs to those affected already. However, we have not covered 100% of costs in all cases. We have listened to customer feedback and have decided to go further. Today’s announcement is that Ford UK will pay 100% of the cost of repair of engine overheating related concerns in 1.0L EcoBoost engines at a Ford dealer. We will re-examine previous cases to ensure that this policy of a 100% contribution to the repair cost is applied consistently; in full and final settlement, subject to case assessment.

In the first instance, customers, who have been directly affected (only), should send a simple e-mail to MGRCRC@ford.com. The automated reply will provide guidance on next steps. It will take time to re-examine previous cases, but we will respond to all customers.
